What is Art to Me?
Who am I as the Artist?
Art is a work in progress, where every splash finds its place: fiery reds, pinks, and oranges, mellow and compassionate deep blues fading into white, shining gold yellows, rich greens taking on every tone, and of course defining shades of black. No rash stroke ruins a masterpiece as what is intended comes to pass. My art is as much a fulfillment of the commissioner’s desire as it is a revelation of the divine creative spirit in me. He who began a good work in me will be faithful to bring it to completion. Even canvases that take inspiration from previous works or images end up being unique treasures. Zest for life and affection for people make my paintings exude harmonious tones of peace. Every color of the spectrum melds together in perfect balance.
Rags to riches, sight to the blind. As an artist, I take cheap materials and transform them into beauty. It is also important for me to bring out the inner beauty of the materials. I let each color speak for itself in the same way that I believe every person has an important voice. I am from the earth and to the earth I will return, but not before blessing the world with my art. I had considered careers in radiology, teaching, and then finally turned my heart toward a vague, yet developing religious yearning. At times we feel quite empty inside, as we look inward, and overwhelmed by the wideness of the world around us. As artist, I bring together the wideness of the subject matter with the smallness of the human condition. I hope my art speaks words of truth that would lead others to love life, feel joy, and revere the divine.
